Spain 'to face competition from emerging markets'
22.10.2007
Spain is set to come under increasing levels of competition from emerging tourist markets, according to experts.
KMPG stated that the country's position as one of the world's leading destinations for golfers was under threat because of the growing popularity of countries such as Turkey.
Dubai and South Africa were also said to be highly appealing among golfers, partly due to the increased accessibility offered by low-cost airlines.
Speaking to Travel Daily News, KPMG spokesperson Andrea Sartori said: "The traditional golf markets of Europe can expect increasing competition from the emerging golf destinations that offer high quality golfing experiences at affordable prices."
She added that emerging markets had recently become highly popular because airlines had begun offering relatively cheap and easy access to these locations.
