Expats say good weather is the top reason to move abroad
13.11.2008
Good weather was ranked as the top reason to move abroad by British expats in a recent Alliance and Leicester survey.
Fifty seven per cent per cent said that better weather has improved their lives abroad, with fifty six per cent saying that they enjoyed a higher quality of life.
Almost half of respondents (49 per cent) said their new country was safer or had a lower crime rate, and 30 per cent said they now had a higher income.
However, an Alliance and Leicester survey also showed that 51 per cent of expats miss their friends and family, and one in ten admit to missing British food.
Unsurprisingly, only four per cent claimed to miss the UK's weather.
Spain and Australia were ranked as the best countries to move to, with the vast majority of Brits in both countries saying they enjoyed a better standard of living and loved the weather.
