Spain 'still the top destination'

05.06.2009

Staying at property in Spain is still top of the list for people travelling overseas, according to a sector expert.

Laura Nicoll, director of Iberian International, says there may soon be a housing shortage in the country despite many homes currently being available, Homes Overseas reports.

She states that the market for property in Spain has now "bottomed out" and will begin to rapidly increase in popularity, leading to a rise in prices.

Ms Nicoll tells the publication that Spain is still one of the world's top destinations, with 40 million visitors a year.

She comments: "Housebuilders have recognised this and reduced their prices as low as they can. We will not see any further reductions. There has never been a better time to buy a home in Spain."

In related news, Barbara Wood, co-director of industry specialist Property Finders, recently told the Times that the Golden Mile near Puerto Banus and Marbella close to the Golf Valley are currently experiencing a boost in interest from overseas investors.
