Eurozone still rules, reveals Skyscanner

Cheap flight site Skyscanner can reveal that the eurozone is still the number one choice for Brits heading abroad this late May bank holiday, despite the fact that the eurozone is more expensive than last year.
All ten of the most popular destinations searched for on Skyscanner for travel over the late May bank holiday 2009 period are within the eurozone.
Once again, Spain dominates the line up, with four Spanish destinations in the top ten and Malaga rising above Amsterdam to claim the number one spot.
Two French destinations, Paris and Nice made the top ten, with no change in position on last year’s line up. Dublin and Rome have also managed to hold onto their positions. Portugal’s Faro is a brand new entry, but Milan has dropped out of the rankings altogether.
Barry Smith, Skyscanner co-founder and director said:
“We recently reported that for summer 2009 travel, we’re seeing growth in non-euro countries such as Thailand, the US, Turkey and bulgaria, however, Skyscanner’s data shows that for the late May bank holiday short break, the eurozone is still the Brits’ number one choice, despite the fact that it’s more expensive this year.”
