Monarch to launch new Canary Islands flights

24.10.2009

Monarch Airlines will launch new flights to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands this week.

Additional services to Gran Canaria will start from Birmingham Airport, Gatwick Airport and Manchester Airport on October 19th, with flights to Fuerteventura set to launch from the same three hubs and Luton Airport on October 21st.

The new routes bring the total number of destinations served by Monarch to 15, with connections to Tenerife and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands also available.

Liz Savage, the airline's director of flights and holidays, said: "We have been overwhelmed with how well these new services have been received, with 35,000 advanced bookings already taken.

"We are seeing huge demand for our mid-haul destinations - in September we carried 61 per cent more customers to Lanzarote and 12 per cent more customers to Tenerife compared to September 2008."
