Spain ’seen as safe international property choice’
16.09.2009
Spanish property is seen as a safe bet by international property investors, it has been stated.
International mortgage firm Conti revealed that the country has accounted for 22 per cent of enquiries it has received this year, compared with 14 per cent last year.
The firm said this showed the British "love affair" with Spanish property and lifestyle is not over, stating: "Buyers are in a strong position due to the number of homes available, low interest rates and the opportunity to negotiate price reductions from motivated vendors."
It went on to state that it can still offer a good investment, provided this is done "sensibly" and on a long-term basis.
Earlier this week Martin Dell of Spanish property portal Kyero.com suggested there may be bargains in Spain for a long time to come.
He suggested this is because property prices there will be depressed by an over-regulated economy in the country, which he predicted will lead to a much slower recovery than that seen in other European nations.
