Flights to Malaga to be launched by Flybe

07.01.2010

Regional airline Flybe will launch new Saturday flights to Malaga from Humberside Airport this summer.

The first scheduled service to the Spanish holiday city will take off on May 29th, allowing north-east based holidaymakers improved access to the Costa del Sol.

Weekly flights will be operated using a 118-seat Embraer 195 aircraft, expanding the airline's presence at Humberside where it last year began operating flights to Jersey.

"We're delighted to be adding this brand new service to Spain from Humberside and to increasing our presence at the airport and remain committed to expanding our services out of the region," explained Flybe chief commercial officer Mike Rutter.

He went on to say that the airline "prides itself" on offering passengers a wide choice of cheap flights to a number of popular holiday destinations.

Humberside Airport director Tony Lavan said the flights, which will remain in operation until September 11th, are "great news" for the region.

The north-east airport reported its busiest ever holiday period last summer, with a reported 30 percent bookings increase in the period between May and August.
