Barcelona launches winter sales

Barcelona could be the city break destination of choice for shopaholics over the coming months as it hosts its annual winter sales.
The popular retail promotion, which follows Christmas every year in the city, was officially launched on 7 January and will continue until 6 March.
Retailers all over Barcelona will be participating in the sales, most of which will be offering discounts of between 40% and 50% on stock.
The city council also revealed that some of the bigger companies could reduce their prices by up to 70%, with the sales being seen as an opportunity to lure consumers back to the shops following the recent economic crisis.
Spain's Trade Confederation expects the average individual visiting Barcelona for the sales this year to spend around €100 (£89).
